The Arizona Sidewinders captain put together a career day in Week 10, stuffing the stat sheet with 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 307 total yards. The six combined goals, assists, and blocks marked a career-high +/- for Gesell, while the 307 yards represented just the second 300-yard game of their career.
The performance also capped off an impressive comeback season. Gesell was named the WUL's Breakout Player of the Year in 2023 before injuries largely sidelined them throughout the 2024 and 2025. In 2026, they've reestablished themself as one of Arizona's most important players. Gesell currently leads the Sidewinders in total yards and stands alone as the only Arizona player this season with at least five goals, five assists, and five blocks.

League Wide Bye Week | Memorial Day Weekend
The WUL schedule hits pause this Memorial Day weekend before the final regular season push begins.
With all four Championship Weekend spots officially locked up, teams now get a rare chance to reset, recover, and sharpen things ahead of the season’s final stretch. Seattle Tempest, Colorado Alpenglow, San Diego Super Bloom, and Bay Area Falcons have all officially punched their postseason tickets — but plenty still remains on the line as all eight teams head into the last week of regular season play on Saturday May 30, including playoff seeding and a few lingering rivalry scores waiting to be settled.
